You’ve stolen my heart…
by sleeping in the cathedral overnight and then cutting through the bars that were protecting it with a hacksaw.
So, it would seem, was the fate that befall the petrified heart of St. Lawrence O’Toole (Archbishop of Dublin 1162 – 1180) which was stolen from Christchurch Cathedral in Dublin early on Saturday morning.
The question that immediately comes to mind is “Why?” Who, exactly, steals the heart of a bishop who has been dead for nigh on eight hundred years?”
Apparently it’s the third such theft in the last couple of months. So remember folks – constant vigilance. If you see someone acting oddly near the bones of your local saint, make sure you report it to Gardaí. At this rate, no relic is safe.
