I’m just back from the Cork IV, and wow, what a great weekend. Firstly, congratulations are in order for Emer Duffy, our wonderful DC, for getting us there and back and for her immaculate and seamless organization. However, the ovation goes to Anne O’Donovan, the rather epic UCC Philosoph DC, without whom there would not have been a tournament (and a first class one at that), so hats hats off to Anne.
The Cork IV was splendid. It was really well run and it ran ON TIME. I was speaking with the lovely Jenny and as TCD Hist J, we did alright, taking: 4 1 2 3 4 in our respective rounds; giving us a sum total of 6 points, which wasn’t enough to break, but not so entirely awful that we should hang our heads in shame either. So where better to dip one’s toe into the world of competitive inter-varsity debating than on the banks of Cork’s lovely Lee.
Here’s the promo video for the IV and I have to say, they delivered exactly as promised.
It wasn’t just any IV, it was the Cork IV.
P.S. Youtube just coughed up this, and it was too good to ignore. Here’s the promo for last year’s IV: An IV Less Ordinary
